MEG’S Story

I have been playing volleyball since I was 12 years old. I love volleyball because of how fast-paced the game is and the almost immediate gratification received. I chose to continue my education and career at Lipscomb because I felt truly loved, valued, and heard by both the coaching staff and the girls on the team. I also believe Lipscomb would set me up for the most success in my future career. Some of my career awards so far at Lipscomb are:
ASUN Player of the Year (2023)
First Team All-ASUN (2023)
AVCA All-American Honorable Mention (2023)
AVCA South All-Region Team (2023)
ASUN All-Tournament Team (2023)
All-South Region Team Honorable Mention (2021-Spring)
ASUN All-Freshman Team (2021-Spring)
ASUN All-Conference Second Team (2021)

WHY ULTRA ANKLE?

I have had ankle issues for as long as I can remember. In total, I have broken both my ankles at least 10 times with two total lateral ankle reconstructions on my right ankle. Per my orthopedic surgeon, I was never allowed to play any sports without wearing ankle braces. I wore Ultra Zoom ankle braces back during club volleyball but started wearing lace-up ASO braces when I got to college because that was what we were given. In the span of 2 weeks in my junior year, I had two ankle injuries, one being season-ending, while wearing the ASO lace-up braces. After my ankle surgery, I told my trainer that I needed to go back to wearing hard-shell ankle braces to prevent further injury. I remembered how much I loved my Ultra Zoom braces in high school so that was the only choice for me!

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR LIPSCOMB UNIVERSITY?

The day-to-day environment makes me love my job of playing volleyball more than anything. I have never had a sister so getting 14 in college has been one of the best blessings this sport could have given me.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?

You are so much more than your sport. Injury, especially at a young age, can be extremely difficult. However, remembering that you were created for so much more than how well you can perform at your sport is what should push you through recovery and life in general. You were made for more!
