RUSSELL’S Story

I have loved basketball every since playing as a kid. It is a love that has deepened as I met lifelong friends. I am inspired by how basketball can produce joy, togetherness, and adversity in all aspects. I chose UCLA because it represents everything I want to represent such as higher morals, elevated education, and elite competition while also being close to home. I am a four-time All Academic Team Award Winner, Final Four participant, and ELITE 90 Award Winner.

I love my Ultra Ankle brace because I can move freely, while knowing I am protected from any form of ankle injuries. It helps me play more confidently and effectively.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR UCLA?

The best part is having the opportunity and blessing to represent something so much bigger than myself. To be apart of a the tradition and winning culture is unmatched.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?

Embrace the grind. Chop wood carry water. Like John Wooden said, “ignore criticism, deflect praise, and focus on getting better”.
